Hunter Valley Location

The Dartbrook project is located in the renowned coal region of the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. This location ideally places Dartbrook near world-class infrastructure, workforce and support industries used by major mining companies in the region to serve key customers in Asia.

Mining operations in the immediate area surrounding Dartbrook include Mangoola (Glencore 13.5 mtpa approval), the Bengalla Joint Venture (New Hope, Wesfarmers, Mitsui and Taipower, 12 mtpa approval), Mount Arthur (BHP Billiton, 36 mtpa approval) and the adjacent Mt Pleasant project (Mach Energy, 10.5 mtpa approval).

The Hunter Valley contains a long established rail network that transports coal from as far as Narrabri in central NSW to the port of Newcastle. The rail network accommodates over 200 mtpa of coal from over 40 mines in the Hunter Valley and the Gunnedah basin.

Coal is transported by rail to the ports of Newcastle and exported through Port Waratah Coal Services ('PWCS') or Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group ('NCIG').

Mining industry support services are well developed throughout the Hunter Valley.

Several options for coal rail haulage include Aurizon, Pacific National or the option of our own carrier in the same manner that Xstrata created a joint venture with Freightliner.
